Maria's Success Story
"Thank you, Kindred, for your loving care!"
- Maria
Maria, 77, was admitted to Kindred Hospital Baldwin Park in November 2023, from Huntington Hospital for continued treatment and care with rehabilitation.
Maria had a history of vehicular accidents and obtained multiple traumas, bone fractures and other medical issues attributed to her stay in a hospital. She was diagnosed with chronic hypoxic respiratory failure and thus intubated with trach to ventilator support. Her prognosis was guarded with debilitation. The Short-term Acute Care Hospital provided interventions that stabilized her, and she was successfully transferred to Kindred Hospital Baldwin Park for Long-Term Acute Care.
During her two-month and four-day stay at Kindred Hospital, she received thorough medical management on pulmonary care and extensive rehabilitation care from physical, occupational, and speech therapies. She withstood all procedures and cooperated with her clinical aides, aiming to heal and return home to care for her garden. Indeed, she was stabilized and was already walking with the aid of a walker for a remarkable distance in the halls of Kindred Hospital.
Maria was found to be fit to go home and was finally discharged in early January 2024, to the arms of her loving family. She was very happy and wrote a positive review thanking her wonderful caregivers. She gained several friends here at Kindred Hospital Baldwin Park and will cherish her vivid memories forever.
Care for Complex Conditions
Patients come to our hospitals with serious conditions such as respiratory failure, complex wounds, sepsis, stroke, congestive heart failure, or even a combination of these. Their diagnoses are often complicated by existing health problems like diabetes or COPD. Many of our patients require treatments such as mechanical ventilators, dialysis, or IV therapy.
