Andrew's Success Story

Happy patient with caregivers

"Kindred has a very professional and pleasant team that made my experience enjoyable.”
- Andrew

Proverbs 24:5-6

Andrew is a warm and friendly man who enjoys conversing and has a unique ability to make you feel as if you have been friends for years. Working as a truck driver to support his family, he began experiencing back pain. He assumed it was from his many hours behind the wheel until he was taken to the ER after vomiting and passing out. While there, he was diagnosed with acute complicated diverticulitis. After his surgery and stay at a local hospital, he was transferred to Kindred Hospital Dayton in early January, with multiple complex abdominal wounds.

Andrew credits our wound team, Crystal, Amy and Mollie (who he calls Angels) for his remarkable healing and recovery. He also thanks our therapy team, Leslie, Ally and Edie for keeping him motivated and focused on recovering his strength and mobility.

Andrew faced a very serious health crisis, a scary and painful surgery and then a difficult and demanding recovery, but always remembered his life motto – “Fight and Win!”

He is grateful to God, the support of his loving wife, Erin, and the professional and caring staff at Kindred Hospital Dayton.

Andrew is overjoyed to be going home to his family and says he will stay in touch with the new friends he has at Kindred Hospital.

Care for Complex Conditions

Patients come to our hospitals with serious conditions such as respiratory failure, complex wounds, sepsis, stroke, congestive heart failure, or even a combination of these. Their diagnoses are often complicated by existing health problems like diabetes or COPD. Many of our patients require treatments such as mechanical ventilators, dialysis, or IV therapy.
