Family Involvement
At Kindred Hospitals, we take an interdisciplinary approach to care planning and we believe family members are an important part of that team. At your request, we can hold family meetings with your loved one’s care team to discuss progress, provide education on a treatment plan, or review the discharge plan in preparation for post-hospital life. Our staff is ready to make your experience with us as pleasant and inclusive as possible. Please ask a case manager if you would like to schedule one of these discussions.
Visitor Information
Visiting Hours: 8:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m.
General visiting hours are from 8:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m. or otherwise limited by the care team for medical reasons. We encourage family and friends to visit, as they are welcome in most areas of the hospital during visiting hours, including supervised, well-behaved children.
However, due to the medical complexities of our patients, we kindly ask that children under the age of six refrain from visiting, except in extenuating circumstances. Additionally, we request that individuals with infections (e.g., cough, fever) avoid visiting while symptomatic. For those visiting loved ones in isolation, we ask that extra precautions such as thorough hand washing, and proper protective attire be followed. Our nursing staff are available to provide guidance on these safety measures.
We recommend that no more than two people visit at a time. Please be mindful that the house supervisor may advise limiting visitation to ensure the best possible recovery for your loved one. Some units, due to the critical nature of care, may have specific visiting hours. For loved ones in our Intensive Care Unit (ICU), we recommend visits from immediate family only.
If a large group wishes to visit, we kindly ask that you limit the number of guests in the patient’s room at one time and make use of our waiting areas as needed.
For security reasons, all hospital doors are locked at 8 p.m. If visiting after hours, please call the Nursing Supervisor at 915-799-3482.
Overnight Stay
One family member is welcome to stay overnight if the patient is in a private room. To request a chair or cot for added comfort, please speak with the nursing supervisor. We encourage family support during this time, as it can enhance the patient’s recovery experience. Please note that accommodations are subject to availability and approval, and our staff will do their best to assist you.
