Robert's Success Story

Happy patient leaving hospital with caregivers

"I’m proof of how good the staff are here.”
- Robert

From Kindred Hospital Philadelphia - Havertown

Robert was initially admitted to the hospital in early March after experiencing a cardiac event. Due to the severity of his medical condition, he required ventilator support, underwent a tracheotomy (trach) and had a feeding tube placed for nutrition.  Once stabilized at the previous hospital, he was discharged to Kindred Hospital Havertown by mid-March for ventilator weaning.

During his stay at Kindred, Robert was weaned off the ventilator, started an oral diet, his trach was removed, and he started eating and speaking again.  When Robert arrived at Kindred, he needed assistance getting out of bed and by the time he was discharged, he was using a wheelchair and wheeling around the unit himself.  Congratulations to Robert who worked very hard toward his recovery goals!

Care for Complex Conditions

Patients come to our hospitals with serious conditions such as respiratory failure, complex wounds, sepsis, stroke, congestive heart failure, or even a combination of these. Their diagnoses are often complicated by existing health problems like diabetes or COPD. Many of our patients require treatments such as mechanical ventilators, dialysis, or IV therapy.
