Robert's Success Story

Patient with caregivers

"I want to thank the entire Kindred care team for their upbeat and cheerful attitude. They always greeted me by my name and told me how great I was doing. They motivated me to continue with my recovery. I’m hopeful I will be riding motorcycles with my wife again soon!”
- Robert

Robert (Bob) is a retired United States Air Force Major and Project Manager.  He is a very active man, who enjoys riding Harleys with his wife of 33 years, Sherry. Bob was admitted to a local hospital after experiencing a fall at home and being found unconscious. Diagnosed with myasthenia gravis, Bob’s CT scan showed a brain injury, and he was intubated and had a PEG tube placement.

Bob arrived at Kindred Hospital Dayton on January 21, 2024, for vent weaning, speech, occupational and physical therapies.

Bob leaves Kindred Hospital Dayton today free of the tracheostomy, advanced to an oral diet and restored mobility.

Bob’s strong will, his wife’s love and support and the professional and caring staff at Kindred have resulted in him being accepted to a local acute and aggressive rehabilitation facility.

Care for Complex Conditions

Patients come to our hospitals with serious conditions such as respiratory failure, complex wounds, sepsis, stroke, congestive heart failure, or even a combination of these. Their diagnoses are often complicated by existing health problems like diabetes or COPD. Many of our patients require treatments such as mechanical ventilators, dialysis, or IV therapy.
