 Raul's Success Story

Happy patient standing with cane

"So glad for a second chance.”
- Raul

Raul is a 35-year-old male who was presented to the hospital with dyspnea, cough, fever, fatigue and was admitted with a diagnosis of sepsis and pneumonia. He was intubated for respiratory failure which led to tracheotomy placement.

He was admitted to Kindred Hospital Indianapolis North long-term acute care (LTAC) for IV antibiotics, with physical and occupational therapy. He was scheduled to complete a six-week course of IV treatment, which he did with encouragement from family and staff.  He was decannulated, on room air, with the removal of a nasogastric tube, and eating well. He has since been discharged home with his family with a fully healed stoma.

Raul says, “Having to come to Kindred made me realize that life is good.”

Care for Complex Conditions

Patients come to our hospitals with serious conditions such as respiratory failure, complex wounds, sepsis, stroke, congestive heart failure, or even a combination of these. Their diagnoses are often complicated by existing health problems like diabetes or COPD. Many of our patients require treatments such as mechanical ventilators, dialysis, or IV therapy.
