Raimundo's Success Story

Happy patient leaving hospital with caregivers

"I can't wait until I get to go home to my family.”
- Raimundo

Raimundo arrived at Kindred Hospital Sycamore on May 21st, 2024, following a motorcycle accident where he had hit his head on the concrete resulting in a traumatic brain injury. He had a limited range of motion and was placed on a ventilator to help maintain his breathing and a feeding tube since he was unable to eat by mouth.

During his 29 days at Kindred, Raimundo has been decannulated and taken off the ventilator through vent weaning. He is also now breathing room air and has been working with our Physical Therapy and Occupational Therapy teams to help his range of motion. He also worked with our Speech Therapists to help him speak again.

Raimundo is now ready to move on to the next step in his recovery process and is going to a rehab therapy facility to complete his therapy so that he can go home soon!

Care for Complex Conditions

Patients come to our hospitals with serious conditions such as respiratory failure, complex wounds, sepsis, stroke, congestive heart failure, or even a combination of these. Their diagnoses are often complicated by existing health problems like diabetes or COPD. Many of our patients require treatments such as mechanical ventilators, dialysis, or IV therapy.
