Kevin's Success Story

Happy patient

"The support from my family has been very important and is a big contributor to my success.”
- Kevin

On April 7, 2024, Kevin was at home when he had a massive hemorrhagic stroke.  He spent three weeks in the ICU where he had a permanent shunt, a tracheostomy and a feeding tube placed. Soon after Kevin was admitted to the ICU, he started receiving physical, occupational and speech therapy. Kevin’s family was by his side throughout the entire process and were all a big encouragement to Kevin during his recovery.

In May, the decision was made to transfer Kevin to Kindred Hospital Lima where he continued to receive therapy Monday through Friday. Upon Kevin’s discharge, his trach was removed, he was able to communicate with his family, friends and staff and he was able to eat soft foods.

Kevin has made so much progress since having his stroke and continues to work towards recovery at an Inpatient Rehab Hospital.

Care for Complex Conditions

Patients come to our hospitals with serious conditions such as respiratory failure, complex wounds, sepsis, stroke, congestive heart failure, or even a combination of these. Their diagnoses are often complicated by existing health problems like diabetes or COPD. Many of our patients require treatments such as mechanical ventilators, dialysis, or IV therapy.
