Julie's Success Story

Happy patient leaving hospital with caregivers

"They saved my life. Here’s how I look at things.. they didn’t give up on me and I didn’t give up on them..”

- Julie

Julie was admitted to Kindred Hospital Bay Area - Tampa from Lakeland Regional Medical Center in March and required full ventilator support, had a tracheostomy and feeding tube placed and was dependent for all mobility.

Julie worked extremely hard with the help of our rehab, nursing and respiratory therapy teams and was eventually liberated from her ventilator, breathing on her own and was decannulated. She began eating a  normal diet, progressed with the physical and occupational therapy teams and regained her functional independence. Julie was discharged home with her family on May 1st.

Care for Complex Conditions

Patients come to our hospitals with serious conditions such as respiratory failure, complex wounds, sepsis, stroke, congestive heart failure, or even a combination of these. Their diagnoses are often complicated by existing health problems like diabetes or COPD. Many of our patients require treatments such as mechanical ventilators, dialysis, or IV therapy.
