Jeff M's Success Story

Happy patient

"I’m a busy person so after being down for four months, I’m ready to get up and moving again.”
- Jeff

Jeffrey (Jeff) is a son, husband and father of three children and works hard as a mechanic, which he loves. One day, in early February 2024, Jeff was at work, left for his lunch break and hasn’t been back since.

When Jeff was walking to his vehicle for lunch, he started feeling seriously sick and by the time he made it home to call his wife, he couldn’t even stand up.  After a one-week stay at the hospital, he was sent home but knew after two days something was still wrong. He went back to the ER and was transferred out by Life Flight to a bigger hospital where he was diagnosed with Necrotizing Pancreatitis. Jeff and his family were told he had a 10% chance of surviving. While there, Jeff had nine surgeries and his chest was cut open at least twice.  He said he has no memory of the first three weeks there.

Jeff finally was able to be transferred to Kindred Lima on April 23 and arrived with two chest tubes, IV antibiotics, stitches, and was unable to eat or get out of bed.

As of May 31st, Jeff is planning his discharge home. His chest tubes and stitches have been removed, and his healing is going well. He no longer needs IV antibiotics and is eating and walking on his own again. He is ready to finally go home to his family and friends.

Care for Complex Conditions

Patients come to our hospitals with serious conditions such as respiratory failure, complex wounds, sepsis, stroke, congestive heart failure, or even a combination of these. Their diagnoses are often complicated by existing health problems like diabetes or COPD. Many of our patients require treatments such as mechanical ventilators, dialysis, or IV therapy.
