Jean R's Success Story
"I’m happy to go home to my family.”
- Jean
Jean was admitted to the local hospital due to heart failure. She has a medical history that included bronchogenic cancer of the left lung (status post left upper lobe wedge resection), respiratory failure, and Takotsubo cardiomyopathy.
Once she was stabilized, she was transferred to Kindred Hospital Brea.
Upon admission, Jean was unable to participate in a functional mobility assessment due to shortness of breath and desaturation.
With the support of our interdisciplinary team, Jean was able to return to her previous level of function. By the time she was discharged in early May, she was able to walk more than 360 feet with only one sitting rest.
Care for Complex Conditions
Patients come to our hospitals with serious conditions such as respiratory failure, complex wounds, sepsis, stroke, congestive heart failure, or even a combination of these. Their diagnoses are often complicated by existing health problems like diabetes or COPD. Many of our patients require treatments such as mechanical ventilators, dialysis, or IV therapy.
