Gregory's Success Story

Happy patient leaving hospital with caregivers

"I was unable to talk or breathe when I was admitted… Kindred nursed me through the whole process of my recovery and getting the trach out, I’m well on my way to healing and going to rehab!”
- Gregory

Gregory came to Kindred Bay Area Tampa after a complicated hospital stay. He was admitted with sepsis secondary to pneumonia and an infected diabetic wound. He developed respiratory failure and required mechanical ventilation and a tracheostomy. Once stabilized by the care team at Brandon he transferred to Kindred for continued care.

During his hospitalization his mentation improved, he was able to follow instructions  and started progressing with weaning trials. He was liberated from the ventilator and able to be decannulated. After  progressing with his respiratory status, he became more engaged with the therapy teams, participating and started to improve his strength. Gregory discharged to a skilled nursing center for continued rehab.

Care for Complex Conditions

Patients come to our hospitals with serious conditions such as respiratory failure, complex wounds, sepsis, stroke, congestive heart failure, or even a combination of these. Their diagnoses are often complicated by existing health problems like diabetes or COPD. Many of our patients require treatments such as mechanical ventilators, dialysis, or IV therapy.
