Gladys' Success Story

Happy patient leaving hospital with caregivers

"My stay at this hospital has been super. All the personnel have been wonderful, kind, and caring. The doctors visited me often and helped me improve my breathing. The therapists have been wonderful. I'm very grateful for Frankie, who has helped me be able to do many things that I haven’t been able to do in a long time. He is so kind and patient. The hospital is very clean as well. I'm grateful for all the staff that has taken care of me. My journey has been long, but I am confident I will meet my goals and get to go home soon. When they told me that I had great qualities, I was willing to do everything that they asked me to do to get better.”
- Gladys

Gladys was admitted to Kindred St. Pete after a complicated hospital stay secondary to aortic and mitral valve stenosis. She underwent a mitral and aortic valve repair and developed acute respiratory failure requiring a tracheostomy and an acute kidney injury requiring hemodialysis. She was admitted to Kindred requiring oxygen at 8L and 30% and still on dialysis.

During her stay at Kindred St. Pete, Gladys progressed with the help of the respiratory care team and pulmonologist and was able to be decannulated. After working with the rehab team, she progressed to an oral diet and regained her ability to walk again. Mrs. Gladys was able to discharge home fully independent with her family!

Care for Complex Conditions

Patients come to our hospitals with serious conditions such as respiratory failure, complex wounds, sepsis, stroke, congestive heart failure, or even a combination of these. Their diagnoses are often complicated by existing health problems like diabetes or COPD. Many of our patients require treatments such as mechanical ventilators, dialysis, or IV therapy.
