Chris' Success Story

Happy patient leaving hospital with caregivers

"The friendly and caring Kindred staff weaned me off the ventilator and tracheotomy in record time.”
- Chris

From Kindred Hospital Philadelphia - Havertown

Chris was admitted to Kindred Hospital in Havertown due to a significant fall resulting in multiple fractures and complex injuries.  Before arriving at Kindred, Chris had to undergo several surgeries at a previous hospital and was discharged to Kindred in early April.  Chris required ventilator support and had a trach placed due to acute respiratory failure and eventually needed to have a feeding tube placed.

During his stay at Kindred Havertown, Chris was weaned off the ventilator, started an oral diet, his trach was removed, and he has made great progress with his therapy. He has worked so hard and overcame many hurdles throughout his recovery journey!

Chris is now being discharged to an acute rehab close to his home in Ohio.  He and his wife shared, “The Kindred staff watched me day and night to ensure I was safe, and gently woke up my brain so I wasn’t scared and disoriented. The doctors listened to my wife. She asked a lot of questions, and they answered every single one. I can’t wait to get back to my tropical plant greenhouse. It is time to bring those plants out for the summer!”

Care for Complex Conditions

Patients come to our hospitals with serious conditions such as respiratory failure, complex wounds, sepsis, stroke, congestive heart failure, or even a combination of these. Their diagnoses are often complicated by existing health problems like diabetes or COPD. Many of our patients require treatments such as mechanical ventilators, dialysis, or IV therapy.
