Calvin's Success Story
"I've had a wonderful experience at Kindred. The ICU team is excellent, and Michelle is my favorite nurse. I've made many friends here; people care about me and are very attentive. The respiratory team is excellent as well, Stephanie is the best, she is very knowledgeable and attentive to my needs. Lucy is a rockstar, the best nursing assistant in town. Honestly, everyone has been great, the food is good, and the therapists do a good job. I'm very happy with the care and would definitely recommend Kindred to all my friends and family.”
- Calvin
Calvin was admitted to Kindred Hospital Bay Area – St. Petersburg after a complicated hospital stay due to respiratory failure secondary to pulmonary hypertension and end-stage COPD. It was also determined that he was not a candidate for a lung transplant.
His hospital stay at Kindred was prolonged due to setbacks with his respiratory status, however, Kindred’s multidisciplinary approach to care enabled Calvin to wean off continuous bilevel positive airway pressure (BPap) and helped him regain his functional independence. He is now fully weaned off supplemental oxygen!
Care for Complex Conditions
Patients come to our hospitals with serious conditions such as respiratory failure, complex wounds, sepsis, stroke, congestive heart failure, or even a combination of these. Their diagnoses are often complicated by existing health problems like diabetes or COPD. Many of our patients require treatments such as mechanical ventilators, dialysis, or IV therapy.
