From Kindred Hospital Central Tampa

In early April, Brianna was admitted to Kindred Hospital Central Tampa from Tampa General Hospital after a complicated hospital stay secondary to an abdominal gunshot wound requiring extensive abdominal surgeries, PEG tube placement, mechanical ventilation and tracheostomy placements. She was dependent for all mobility.

Brianna made great progress while at Kindred. The respiratory care teams worked with her to liberate her from the ventilator, and she was able to be decannulated before her discharge. She also progressed with speech therapy and was able to tolerate an oral diet. Before leaving Kindred, Brianna regained her functional independence and was able to walk and complete her acts of daily living (ADLs) without any assistance! She was discharged home on April 24th.

Care for Complex Conditions

Patients come to our hospitals with serious conditions such as respiratory failure, complex wounds, sepsis, stroke, congestive heart failure, or even a combination of these. Their diagnoses are often complicated by existing health problems like diabetes or COPD. Many of our patients require treatments such as mechanical ventilators, dialysis, or IV therapy.
